Ann Gibney Found Joy at Catholic Eldercare
Ann Gibney Found Joy at MainStreet Lodge
When we talked to Ann Gibney about what she likes about living in MainStreet Lodge, she opened a notebook, and said, “I’ve got a lot to say.”
Ann’s list begins with feeling safe, content, thankful, and blessed. “It feels like home,” she says.“I am respected here. I prize my dignity, and the staff always treats me very fairly and respectfully. They are helpful, they listen, and always take time answer questions and listen when I need to talk.”
Music therapy is one of Ann’s favorite activities at MainStreet Lodge. “The music therapists are wonderful because their music makes us happy all day long, and it helps us be kinder to other people too. I try to look to see if somebody needs some help and when I do, I can see the love of God coming down to them.”
Faith is important to Ann, and she feels blessed by the opportunity to go to mass five days a week. She explains, “We have wonderful priests who say mass. Catholic Eldercare cares about our faith and they help us maintain it.” Ann also maintains her independence with the help of our physical therapy team. “They help me maintain my mobility, with a smile and encouraging words.”
Activities fill Ann’s day. “We have many interesting programs,” she says enthusiastically. “We planted our own garden, and we harvested the vegetables. We have travelogues, bowling, bingo, and manicures, and we’ve made floral arrangements for our apartments. I take the Catholic Eldercare bus to stores and enjoy trips to the zoo and going fishing in a boat. It’s fun! I love MainStreet Lodge because I am content and happy here, and I feel blessed to be here.”
