Nurturing Life's Ageless Spirit.

Save the Date! Small Steps, Big Strides

Please join us Thursday, September 14, 2017 for Catholic Eldercare’s 15th Annual Luncheon. Help us celebrate the huge strides all those individual contributions have helped us make over the past 15 years. Join us for a delicious meal, some glorious music by the DeLaSalle choir and an inspiring program about how even the smallest act of kindness can lead to big changes within our community. In previous years, with your help, we’ve been able to expand our offerings and enrich the lives of our residents.

Expansion and Plans to Better Serve the Community
In 2014, over 500 friends and supporters gathered and raised $120,000 to support the 12th Annual Luncheon. During the luncheon, expansion plans and programs were shared in order to better serve seniors and their families:

  • Transitional Care Unit: For patients in the community who need additional recovery time from surgery, stroke or other injuries. This facility was completed in October 2016.
  • Remodeled Catholic Eldercare By Day: Helps seniors maintain their independence while giving caregivers respite.
  • Catholic Senior Connection: A licensed social worker helps parish families identify senior care needs that best fit their situation. Services include transportation, housing, chore service, home health, caregiver support, and meal delivery.
  • The Neighborhood Socials Project: Eases loneliness and isolation through regular social gatherings. It also offers an opportunity to determine other needs seniors may have such as delivered meals, home health and pastoral care.

Making a Difference
More than 500 friends and supporters attended in 2015 for the 13th Annual Luncheon, donating $100,000 in annual fund gifts. Your gifts fund the programs that make a tremendous difference in our residents’ lives. These programs include: pastoral care, therapeutic recreation, pet therapy, and the volunteer program—which helps nurture, engage and inspire residents. CEO Dan Johnson told guests that the organization needs support from the community to respond to human needs and make life as good as it can be for seniors. “Friends, we’re nurturing life’s ageless spirit. That’s our calling, making this happen for seniors of all faiths requires all of us. Thank you for stepping up, supporting our mission, and making something great happen every day.”

Community Effort
The 2016 event was a real community effort. More than 450 friends and supporters helped “Unlock the Power of Community” by raising $100,000 in gifts, pledges and sponsorships. Johnson shared with guests that older adults increasingly express the desire to age in their own homes and neighborhoods, calling for communities to recognize the needs of its seniors and their contributions to the vitality of that community. “Serving the community will not be a solo performance; we are focused on building our capacity to partner, to collaborate in order to truly serve the community needs.” Nineteen program sponsors, 45 table hosts and their guests made the 2016 luncheon a success.

Save the Date!
Help us make 2017 a memorable year. Your generosity supports the engaging therapeutic recreation and art activities, and the popular volunteer program that builds friendships and helps seniors in many other ways. Thanks to you, Catholic Eldercare can fully fund the programs seniors enjoy, even as costs rise and government reimbursements decrease or remain flat. There is no cost to attend. Participants will be invited to make a charitable gift to support Catholic Eldercare’s Annual Fund (no minimum or maximum contribution).
